What is friction plug welding technology?

Friction plug welding is a solid phase welding technique that eliminates the friction stir welding tail holes or defects with a consumable special plug. It has many advantages, such as: large depth and narrow gap welding; low cost of plug material; environmental protection; fast welding speed, filling holes of 100mm depth for only 20s; and welding in harsh environments. The welding process is as follows: under certain pressure or tension conditions, the plug rod drives the plug rod to rotate by the driving device, rubs with the interface of the plug hole (the hole to be welded), forms plasticized metal, and holds for a period of time to complete the welding.
