Boron is an indispensable trace element in plant growth. It can promote the synthesis and transportation of sugar in plants, and make the meristematic cells differentiate normally, which is beneficial to the development of seeds and fruits.
When vegetables are deficient in boron, they often show symptoms such as poor growth, damaged vascular bundles, necrosis of growth points, malformation of vegetative organs, and reduced yield and quality. Such as the lack of boron in celery often causes petiole splitting, radish lack of boron easily cause hollow, black heart, lettuce boron deficiency can easily cause heart leaf necrosis, cucumber deficiency of boron easily cause fruit malformation.
Precautionary measures: (1) Basic application of boron fertilizer. 0.5 to 1 kg of boron fertilizer per acre, mixed with nitrogen, phosphate or organic fertilizer and applied to the soil. (2) Foliar application. After the vegetables show symptoms of boron deficiency, the leaves can be sprayed with 0.1% to 0.2% borax solution. In order to improve the preventive effect, it can be sprayed in the windless evening to prevent the rapid evaporation of the fertilizer. (3) Apply more fully decomposed organic fertilizer to improve soil physical and chemical properties.
