S45C/SAE1045 Special Carbon Steel For Plastic Mould Steel

1045 is used extensively by all industry sectors for applications requiring more strength and wear resistance than the low carbon mild steels can provide and the higher strength of the low alloy high tensile steels is not necessary, plus those applications requiring flame or induction hardening.

As a mould steel, it is used for making injection plastic mould, mould frame and some mid-range machines.

Forging Pre heat to 750ºC - 800ºC, then continue heating to 1100ºC - 1200ºC maximum, hold until temperature is uniform throughout the section and commence forging immediately
Annealing Heat to 800ºC - 850ºC hold until temperature is uniform throughout the section, and cool in furnace
Hardening Heat to 820ºC - 850ºC hold until temperature is uniform throughout the section, soak for 10 - 15 minutes per 25mm of section, and quench in water or brine.

Heat to 830ºC - 860ºC soak as above and quench in oil.Temper immediately while still hand warm
Normalizing Heat to 870ºC - 920ºC hold until temperature is uniform throughout the section, soak for 10 - 15 minutes.Cool in still air
Tempering Re heat to 400ºC - 650ºC as required, hold until temperature is uniform throughout the section, soak for 1 hour per 25mm of section, and cool in still air.

Use for making injection plastic mould,mould frame and some middle-range machine.

Quality Contation of our steel products
1)Both end of each bar must be cut
2)Ladle furnanced and vacuum de-gassed
3)Show heat No. on each bar
4)Surface condition the surface of the hot rolled square bar shall befree cracks, scar and wrinkles that affect the use of the billets. In case there is the above-mentioned defect, it shall be remove.
5)The mill test certificate shall show the chemical composition, and it is guaranteed that the chemical composition shall be within the limit stipulated in the contract.
