Russian enterprises in China may reach 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity

According to a Russian business consulting website, Russia and China signed the 2013 Russian Electricity Price and Electricity Agreement. The document was signed by the Russian Eastern Power Corporation and the State Grid Corporation of China within the ninth round of the Russia-China Energy Dialogue.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Arkady Dvorkovic outlined the signing ceremony after the agreement, while the two sides will determine the amount of electricity exported to China. In 2012, Russia Eastern Power will deliver 2.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to China, and in 2013 Russia Eastern Power may increase this index to 3 billion kwh.

Earlier reports said that in the first nine months of 2012, Russia’s Eastern Power Corporation’s electricity exports to China had almost doubled compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.8 billion kWh. In the third quarter of 2012, exports exceeded 821 million kWh.

The long-term agreement for the supply of electricity to China was signed by the Russian Eastern Power Corporation and the State Grid Corporation of China in February 2012.

In addition, the two sides also signed a cooperation road map for the development of the coal sector and a cooperation agreement for the development of energy market assessments.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovic announced that Chinese companies have shown an active interest in participating in tenders for the Gorbecano-Ogoja coal-bearing zone in Russia's Amur region. China is ready to participate in the development of coal mines as a consortium. The Russian authorities plan to announce the tender for the coal mine in 2013.

Russia Eastern Power Corporation is a 100% subsidiary of Russia’s Unification Power Systems International, a Russian company that exports power to China. During the implementation of large-scale export power projects, Eastern Power plans to build new power stations and develop existing network infrastructure to ensure consistent power supply with China.
